MEET
CORY PROCTER

Cory has had to figure life out along the way, and football provided the path that would shape the man he is today. And it is now his mission to spread his story, his strength, and his wisdom to impact people and develop leaders. Cory’s story is a powerful one; one of triumph, of tragedy, and ultimately of being reborn into a man more resilient than even he could ever have dreamed. When he connects with others, he empowers them with his strength and convictions, his story and his passions. Cory’s own tragedies and pain embolden those he encounters to face their own challenges and become warriors in their own lives.

Cory’s Story

Cory Procter is more than the sum of his titles: an offensive-lineman in the NFL, football star, husband and father, a strong Christian. He is a warrior, for himself, for his family, for God.

“The Huddle has become a metaphor and driver for my life’s journey and I am ready to share it with the world.”

– Cory Procter

In 2005, he was picked up by the Detroit Lions practice squad. Seizing yet another opportunity he wasn’t expecting, he made the most of it. Procter worked hard, focused, and pushed himself forward. One yard at a time. Literally overnight, Cory ended up in Texas playing for the Dallas Cowboys. His tenure with the Cowboys would last 5 seasons and span two monumental stadiums. In 2007, Cory was introduced to his wife through mutual friends, and Megan has been by his side ever since. Together, both Texas transplants, they made the Lone Star State their home, growing their football family.

Cory continued to soar, until 2010, after moving to Miami. During game play on an oppressive night in Miami, he had a massive and career ending injury. Procter did not know that was his new reality, that his time in the sun had come to an end. As he stumbled through the next few years, seven surgeries, tons of rehab, moving back and forth across the US to continue his football dream, he emerged a broken man, struggling to redefine himself. He and Megan began a family in 2011, with Cory literally limping down the aisle.

Cory and Megan began 2015 with the birth of their daughter, Grace. But soon after this joyous occasion, the Procters had to endure one of the greatest challenges of their lives. In the spring of that same year, cancer struck the family and shook their world.  That was the moment. The moment that would come to end one chapter of Cory’s story, and open another brighter one. Cory’s football dream had come to an end, the family suffered a loss, and he was not sure which way to walk, which way his path was supposed to go. It was during this painful time, that family friends introduced the Procters to their church. He was reluctant to go, recalcitrant towards God, still brewing from the long, rocky road he had endured since Miami. But standing there that day in church, the sun shone upon him again. His spiritual rebirth had begun, and it brought the core of who Cory is back to the forefront.
